The County Clerk is responsible for keeping records of all real property, the proceedings of Commissioners Court, the County Court at Law, and Probate proceedings. The office is also the Registrar of Birth and Death records, issues and maintains all Marriage Licenses and Assumed Names Certificates, as well as several others.

“You may not find your mortgage note because your lender may not have filed it with us. Call your lender or MERS (Mortgage Electronic Recording System) for copies of your financing documents. The County Clerk does not have any contact information for your lender or MERS.”
